The ACT Government is committed to ensuring high ethical standards in research projects, and as such has developed the ACT Health and Community Care Ethics Committee (ACTHEC).
ACTHEC is the official Human Research Ethics Committee for the Health and Community Care Portfolio Hospital. The ACTHEC is constituted according to National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) guidelines.
The aim of the ACTHEC is to ensure that high ethical standards are maintained in research projects to protect the interests of Research Subjects, Investigators and the Institution. In carrying out these functions the ACTHEC, at all times, takes into consideration guidelines issued by the NHMRC together with local cultural and social attitudes.
