The Hon Brendan O'Connor. Minister for Small Business, Minister for Housing and Homelessness

Vinnies CEO Sleep Out

Homelessness is a complex and confronting social issue. An estimated 100,000 people are without a place to call home on any given night.

I am proud to be part of a government that has rightly put homelessness in the national spotlight. It is of absolute importance that we as a government and society do all we can to reduce the number of people who are homeless.

I understand the challenges that confront us all in reducing homelessness. That is why I am participating in the Vinnies CEO Sleep Out on 21 June. I will take three pieces of cardboard and sleeping bag and join other CEOs from large, medium and small businesses spending the night outside in an effort to raise awareness and funds to assist homeless people.

I am privileged and honoured to be the Minister for Homelessness and would gratefully appreciate any donations to this worthy cause.

You can donate online through the secure website:

All sponsorship money raised goes towards the ongoing provision of St Vincent de Paul homeless services across the country. For more information visit the Vinnies' CEO Sleep Out 2012 page.

Kind regards,

Brendan O’Connor
